Afternoon all, By heck it's gone icy out there now, Just been to pick up mams prescription at the chemist and the cars are frosting over.
Home made meatballs in a tomato & garlic sauce with a garlic & coriander naan bread for tea.

2 x Class 40 . . . . jeez they were cold things, unbelievably draughty. Mind you, they were nearing the end of their life when I started. There was a hotplate in the engine room for boiling a kettle, tactically positioned in a screaming draught near the air intake for one of the turbochargers so you could never get the water to boil, most had a wall of bricks around them to try to block it
"Manliest" set up we had was 2 x Class 56 in multiple on the ECML coal trains, 6,500hp and you needed it to get almost 2,000 tons up the 1:96 climb over Grantshouse. |

I’m told I can’t have any 😂 I shall forfeit my share of cake for the charity.

Great stories to hear about people like yourself that worked on these early locos. I can imagine they were cold when we used to have proper Winters, I was on the BR class 31 last night & I found a switch on the dashboard for a 'leg warmer'
