So how do you clean your oil suckers?
So my Sealey TP69P oil sucker has just been put to good use performing its first oil change. I've poured the old oil into two empty 5l oil bottles, but the question is... how are you meant to go about cleaning the insides of the Sealey? Or is it okay not to?
I thought about getting a bucket with a whole load of washing up liquid and water and then sucking that through it... but then how do you dispose of that soapy/oily water... can that go down the drain? Interested to know how others do it. |

Paraffin would clean the dirty oil out, but why bother?

I always keep my Pela clean cos I use it for coolant refills/bleeding. I use white spirit.

Yes, that's right Keith, oil is drained out through the dipstick hole. No flush added. Only tip I'd add is to make sure you have the right sized socket for removing the oil filter housing BEFORE draining the oil out. Learnt that the hard way today- went to Halfords in my wife's car to get a 36mm socket.

I use a Pela, my only real tip is get the oil up to a good temperature before you try to suck it out.
Cold it will not move and what does move takes forever, at temperature it shifts pretty quickly and you always seem to move more. And regarding the OP, I've never cleaned mine, but all it does it oil extraction. Cheers Ian
