I met my Mrs when I was 31 and she was just about to turn 34. She's now 42, and always moans to me about the lines around her eyes.

I say to her, "you shouldn't worry about those little lines - they're just age, baby; there's nothing anyone can do about 'em. You've got to look at the bigger picture, and you're still the most beautiful woman I've ever seen".

Apply the same logic to your car. Doesn't matter about the scuffs. They're all part of the character of the face, and the car underneath is still fabulous.

p.s. The lines on my Mrs never work, but I keep trying anyway.

Looks like most, if not all, those bits are on the bumpers front and rear?

If so, trust me, it's already better than mine

I'd take pictures of all the dodgy bits on mine, but I'm not sure the bandwidth allowance of the site could cope.....

As has been said, you are doing a great job, and it REALLY is not as bad as you think it is, though we are all just as guilty of thinking that way on our own cars, we just can't help ourselves.

At the end of the day, if you didn't care about the car so much, those little bits and pieces wouldn't bother you, so I think your heart is in it just as much as it's ever been, and that's no bad thing.

Do you travel to the North East too? I could give you enough work for a fortnight

The thing is when you look at your own car your eye always gets drawn to any blemishes, it's human nature sadly.
Your car is stunning look at the good bits and above all enjoy it

Carla, it's a ten year old car, the only ten year old cars without a few "battle scars" have probably been resprayed, what else is that covering up? Yours is a good, honest car and you should be proud of how it looks, the fact that you are prepared to put the effort in is great.

My ZT goes like a rocket, looks great when it's washed and polished . . . . from a distance! Get up close and you'll see small stone chips are my problem and believe me they show up clearly with anthracite black. Doesn't make me any less happy with the car, in fact I love it!

Lets be honest its a family car the same as mine, they are used every day so they pick up wee marks here and there.

you could spend a fortune getting it 100% then what happens someone in a car park opens their door onto it etc.

Im embarrassed by my diesel with its key marks, chipped bonnet etc but look what happened to my Jap spec when I had just got it nearly 100%.....some nugget runs into the side of it and totals it

Trick of the trade: Clean wheels and windows. Even an untidy car looks good if the wheels and windows are clean!
Your car looks fine, and is a gorgeous colour. Not sure you have much to worry about really.
