Default Horsepower for free!

Not quite Free H/P as I've had to purchase filters but I've just finished thoroughly cleaning the diesel manifold and egr, and installed a new air filter and pcv filter, the oven cleaner method worked really well but still had to finish off by hand with a long bottle brush, couldn't believe the amount of crud that came out.
Pressure washed all the openings then as a last step ... in the wife's dishwasher it went.
Anyway ... all put back together and took it for a 20 mile run, WOW ... completely different feel all round, smoother, picks up better, it was never bad before but now just feels more lively. All I can say is ... thankyou to everyone here who generously donated their wealth of knowledge and advice on the best way to achieve this outcome.
Looking forward to getting it re-mapped now

Nice one - will you be in danger for using the dishwasher to clean the EGR?

Wife bypass may be in order

It will feel even better when remapped!

Can't wait to get my current one sorted

Hate to come over all elf and safety chaps, but there are carcinogens in the crud that is in the diesel manifolds.

Funnily enough, was thinking of treating Mrs Noc to a new dishwasher and moving the old one into the garage to use as a GhettoTech parts washer.

Most of my wife's 'cooking' ends up as carcinogenic crud, so that makes our dishwasher toxic too

Maybe I can get her remapped?

Great to hear all the work is helping. Currently doing a cleanup of the 320d while the turbo is off. Manifold and EGR is looking very sorry for itself so hope a good clean will help freshen her up

Your wives must be grateful for all these dishwashers.

As Mike says the crud from the EGR / manifold is nasty stuff and should be kept well away from the kitchen.

Hahahahaaa, Yes ... I am probably playing with fire here, although in my defence the manifold was about 90% clean before I used her 'brand new' dish washer! but I had a cunning plan .... I put the dish washer through two empty cycles afterwards.
Absolutely no signs of any scullduggery now, Mmmwwaaahahahahaaaaa.
Even if she did (by some miracle) find out, it's so worth the never ending amount of grief that will rain down on me just to have a smoother than smooth R75 I think!!
Plus ... i'll tell her it was all you lot on here that made me do it and if I go down ... I'm taking you all with me. lol.

Can't thank you all enough peeps 'n' hope Santa brings you all you asked for

After cleaning my manifold (without the dishwasher), I used the wife's hair dryer to dry it.
Worked perfectly and she still doesn't know, I just had to keep the handle clean!
