If correct then mine should be constantly live.

Once repaired I guess I will soon find out

Thanks

I've got a double cigar socket and 2 usb's incorporated in one unit. It's wired to an ignition live fuse and d/sided taped to the centre console on the passenger side. This is for swmbo to charge/use her phone and charge her e-cig. It's also used for the dashcam and trailing lead for a satnav. Maybe just me but using the actual cigar socket for an accessory looks untidy.

if you have an old (but working) 501 sidelight bulb ... bend the two wires out and touch it to ciggy live and an earth while ignition is off, bulb will light if live all the time. If no joy there then do the same when ignition is on. bulb should show you exactly whats what.
Probably would be better to use a multimeter but failing that... the bulb test works for me when looking to sort low voltage stuff.

Simply make sure that anything you plug into a permanently live socket has its own on/off switch.-----------
