Default A few V8s for sale in South Africa

As per title. see http://www.autotrader.co.za They seem confused with the ZT. Is it a V8, a 3 litre or a V6? Rover looks lovely though!

The Black Rover looks like and sounds like a V8 and they were only in Automatic Gearbox for Rover not Manual Boxes. Correct front Grille, but not a 5 Door!
Also listing and Photo underneath is for same car, Different Branch? But has a different phone number.

Perhaps they have smaller horses 260 up ter norf and 300 down in the southern parts of the planet. Could not see a website so e-mailed them for the details of the car and why its a 300. See if they come back to me.

Could be that the ZT's were marketed as 300. Hence the confusion. Bear in mind these cars will have NO rust. Hope the aircons are working though.
Love the little Rover 75 P3 restoration.

MG-Rover South Africa had branches in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town originally, and usually bought in models and sold them so buyers had no options except that with which the vehicle had been supplied. In addition, some models were not offered, including the ZS, but the ZR and ZT were popular. The 160 V6 was never offered, just the 190 originally as diesel is not as popular yet in SA as it is in Europe, but the 75 may have been later. The 160 1.8 T became an option later as it was better at coping with high altitudes on the reef than the 190. V8s were popular in SA at one point, but despite having much cheaper fuel than the UK, the V8 engine fell out of favour a few decades back with more owners buying 4 or 6 cylinder cars, unlike Australians who still insist on a decent V8 in the range.

As to rust, beware! Cars from coastal Natal can suffer severe rust, as can any from the main coastal cities. Cars are not rust treated as well as here so they do suffer more. I have seen 8 year old cars with more rust in than here in the UK in places like Durban and Port Elizabeth.

Current exchange rates are around £1 to R15.

Point taken Martin, but these V8's are in the Transvaal and, of course, uk built.
