Wet cylinder 2
Hi all,
Been having a slight misfire on start up on my 1.8t zt.. used a borescope this morning and found that cylinder 2 looks wet - the dreaded HG? Last edited by kevineds; 16th June 2024 at 17:17.. |

Could be, but worth checking the inlet manifold gasket first. IMGs are a lot easier to replace and also tend to go. Are there signs of a leak at the back of the engine (say wetness or pink streaks)? Has the car been losing coolant?

I see you're using a horoscope, is cylinder 2 a Pisces perhaps?

Had a look around the manifold ( car is fitted with an alloy one ) and can’t see anything, will investigate further. Was hoping for it to be the manifold, but would expect cylinder 1 or 4 to be wet?

It’s possible to have an internal leak only, on img. Could be in any cylinder. Condition of coolant and oil is a sign of hg failure - mixing either way. If no sign of this, I’d be tempted to do the img first and see, as it’s so much easier.
