Default Garage Woes....

After my ZT failing MOT due to rear brakes 'grabbing', got car booked into today to have discs / pads replaced.

Got phone call earlier to say rear shoes also need replacing (fair enough)

Just got another call they won't be able to finish job 'till tomorrow morning due to them ordering wrong brake discs (twice)

Not best pleased but guess that teaches me to source parts myself (as i usually do)

Don't usually have problems with the rear pads 'grabbing' but if there is an excessive build up of dust on the handbrake shoes or the handbrake cable/shoes have been adjusted too tight, this will cause the problem.

Grabbing was due to warped discs.
Hopefully should be sorted soon

Default Hand Brake

The linings for handbrake are fairly thin so can be mistaken for badly worn.
Unless driven regularly with hanbrake on the don't often need replacing.
Can often just rough up linings a little with emery paper. remove all dust to restore efficient use

They can (and do) fall to bits with age sometimes though!

Yep felt judder through brake pedal (like ABS cutting in)

Now all sorted - car brakes well & handbrake barely moves before locking back wheels.
There is one thing though - about a week or so before getting the back brakes fixed the yellow 'low pad' warning light came on.

The garage fitted new sensors & I only had the front pads changed 2 months ago.

Any ideas why it's coming on?
