Default mg zr

Hi all, someone near me has just posted an mg ZR 1.4 for sale. He said it's had a performance chip to raise the hp from 104 to 140!! To me that seems a massive gain for a nasp engine!
I'm not thinking of buying it, but know someone looking for a small sporty hatch. Is that kind of increase even possible on a 1.4?

Simply, it's a lie.

Let me guess - the induction kit and exhaust add 20bhp too!?

That's fine, just tell him that you'll leave your money in the loft when you go to view it!

Z & F tuning offer a remap for the 105 that claims just a 2HP improvement but much improved pick up and powerband etc.

Having occasionally frequented a ZR forum i am not surprised of exagerated claims re tuning improvements.

The 105 is a nice package as it is, why complicate things re insurance etc, especially when there are faster variants available?

That would take a lot of work to lift it to 140bhp, probably a wild set of cams, which could be fun, although it would need the buts revving off it to get it going

Probably an in line resitor to the water temperature sensor. Makes it richer which gives you 35 bhp more :-)
