Unfortunately, there are a great many people around today who, having nothing of their own to care for and being envious of those that do, decide to adopt, and jealously guard, that which does NOT belong to them, for example, a particular parking space or, as is more common in my neighbourhood, a particular piece of the kerb side which then becomes, in their minds, "sovereign" territory.

"Trespassers" will then be "convinced" as they feel appropriate. Usually, it has to be said, by some act of violence or damage.

How would one get through to such people?

I'm not saying that this is the case in your situation Len, but it might be worth considering whether it is worth the possible damage to one's baseball bat when met with the legendary toughness of the head of a moron.

An incredibly nasty thing to have happen, and you've every sympathy from me. I thought my dented door was bad, but your situation's much worse as it's so malicious in intent. If you know who he is, I'd say you're exercising massive and admirable restraint in posting rather than trashing his car in revenge.

It's great that a neighbour acted pretty neighbourly and told you that they'd witnessed it - although if their anonymity is a problem...if they've sent you a letter, wouldn't it stand that they'd know you - if they know your address & details, and that it's your car? Maybe chat with your neighbours that you know and try some persuasion...after all, it could be their car next and if you can stop this now - it's better for all!

Good luck with it, and I hope they can chuck the proverbial weighty tome at him.

There's little point in doing anything - the legal system in this country is a complete waste of time and totally ineffective in such cases as this.

Hi all , i have thought about it a lot but then i would be going down to his level and like you all, i was brought up to respect other people's property. ooo what i would love to do to his car and to him

The police came round yesterday and went round the neighbours , they have an idea who it is that written the letter but unless they own up it's no good. I have suggested that i write a letter and explain that they really need to give there name to the police as they cant charge him and it could happen to there car and i can then claim my money back, they think it could work. This guy still don't know that he was seen and that we have a letter, and ether way the police are still going to pay him a visit and i would love to see his face when they take him in.
Thank to you all for your comments and support and i will see you all on sat.

..........I find Insulin is Best, hardly ever traceable and quiet.
Just stick the syringe anywhere in the moron, 80 units is generally enough, oops........

Of course this is all in Jest and not a suggestion.

As stated above the Police possibly won't come out or do much but I called the police a few weeks ago about noisy/junky neighbours & visitors in & out of the house at all times of the day & night & simply stated that if they didn't come out & sort it - I will, hense to say they came out! I have to add that I wasn't going to do anything but they didn't know that lol.

I HATE folk like this.... jealous of someone else so have to damage their possesion to feel better!.
And on the subject of damage........... at the start of the summer I received a nasty dunkle on the passenger door while I was at Asda (Asda were contacted but couldn't do anything!...yeah right!). Well, just came back from B & Q, where I parked at the furthest point away, and not have a lovely new dunkle on the tailgate just below the window!, 1mm up and the window would have caved, I give in now.
