Default luggage

I travel a lot with my work, mostly train but by Air occasionally.

Can anyone explain why some people, young ladies mostly but not exclusively, insist on taking such huge amounts of luggage?

I mean why take a bag that you have difficulty pulling along let alone lifting? Also why express disgust when your bag, around the size of a human being does not fit in the luggage rack? ( especially when the owner has been unable to do it themselves as they could not lift it!)

Just an observation made on the Euston train this morning.

And they look at you disgusted as much as to say -don´t you understand that you are supposed to help me with this lot?- They often manage to get 2 pieces of cabin luggage on and then give you -the evils- because you have the audacity to take up a space with your very small bag.

They love to put their bag or bags on the empty seat next to them on the train so they don´t have to get contaminated by anothe human sat next to them. When the conductor comes to check the tickets I usually ask if I could possible see the TWO tickets the young thing has.......

Don't get me started on this!

One of my pet hates, the "carry on that can't be lifted" brigade on an aircraft.

If I had my way, all luggage would go in in the hold, no exceptions.

I lived in Saudi for 8 years and during religious festivals the locals would always travel back and forwards with 5 gallon bottles of zam zam (holy) water.
Do the maths - 400 people on a flight, at least 75% would have these containers, weighing at least 50lbs, all in the overhead luggage containers.
Frightened me no end.

Flying from Hong Kong the other year, and one familys hand luggage took half of
the planes overhead lockers.A big uproar occured when cabin manager insisted they went in the hold.
It's that time of year when we get the skiers with designer ski bags that take up all the room on the buses and then moan that there is not enough room. Why not drop them at the terminal with your passengers and then park your car?
