A bit of Waterside history........................
............................................ The USN opened a base in November 1943 which was operated by the 29th Division "Seebees" US Navy Construction Battalion. It consists of 12 parallel piers that gently slope down the intertidal shore and are built of shuttered concrete.
The base closed in August 31st 1945. Well these piers are still here. They are one of only four scheduled ancient monuments in the Saltash area. www.brucehunt.co.uk for the full story
