Default Just wondered

I've ordered my new coolant pipe and should get it tomorrow.

I just wondered because it's the one under the egr manifold would it be ok to run the car just on tickover so I can check for leaks after fitting before I refit the egr manifold.

If you remove the inlet manifold then you can make sure the sealing surfaces on the cylinder head are clean and it won't leak when you fit the new coolant outlet connection.

Ok thanks is it best to put any other sealant on with the new rubber square gasket before fitting.

That's a very good question Alan.

When I did mine I took the view that, as the original had failed, the new one might as well so I put a small bead of instant gasket around the outside of the seal.

That was a few years ago, and I now think the original seal and the thermostat housing seal both failed after being degraded by the OAT coolant, so I don't use it anymore.

But that is just me, and a professionally trained MGR technician would do neither of the above.

Hi Alan.
If you are referring to the gasket part below in the photo's no sealant required to re-fit in my opinion

Hi artic
My new part looks exactly the same as your new part in the picture
But can't help but notice that were the pipes push on look different between the two pics. Am I being paranoid or will it just come obvious when I cum to connect them

Hi Alan.
Yes sorry only just got back to my PC after sorting out some SSC and some Injectors, yes they are spring clipped fitting but once the spring clip as been removed you still need to give it a good pull therefore the top hose along with the fitting is best removed from the car good luck Arctic.
