Default door won't open

hi-have a 2004 CDTI tourer, the front passenger door won't open at all. The button pops up when the interior handle is pulled but the door won't open either from inside or out. Any advice gratefully received, regards, Andy

Not sure if this will help - one of my doors was sticking when opening it from the outside last week.. I got it open by pushing the door in with my knee in as I pulled the handle.. might not work.. but worth a try?

you have to remove the door card to get access to a white threat that is conect to the cable that opens the door in the handle..

it probably came out of his bracket that is a small piece of plastic...

you have a how to here in the forum...

just make a small search and you will photos of it...

I've had to do this a couple of times now, it's a nuisance when the door won't open from the inside or out. The door card must be removed to access the wrap around clip in Bob's excellent pic. I've used a large screwdriver (carefully) to prise away the door card from the top on the inside. Once you can get a hand to it you can push/pull the threaded bar and hopefully open the door. Once the door is open you can re-position the clip.

I had same trouble, fortunate to have 2ft wooden ruler, put window down then prodded in area of lock a few times, as a car thief would and door opened. Maybe i was just lucky.

All car thieves take note, Rover/MG`s are open to theft using
a wood ruler
