Default Alcantara Seat Refurb

The only thing that lets down the interior of my ZT-T has always been the driver's Alcantara seat which has the usual signs of wear and seat belt buckle damage to the bolster, so I finally decided to do something about it.

As you can see, the damage was starting to get quite bad the longer I left it

As you can see, the seat had been well sat in even prior to my ownership, and it looked baggy with a fag burn too.

So I managed to source a spare set of Green Alcantara front seat covers which themselves had seen better days, but did contain enough material to work with.

So it was out with the seat and in with a 75 spare drivers seat I have for emergencies then of to the re-trimmers.

A couple of weeks later and the seat is back looking as good as the day it was fitted to the car at Longbridge

A few more pictures of the finished product

The seat now feels a lot plumper and firmer, matching the other seats in the car, so I'm pleased with the results.

That's a very nice job. All repairs using re-cycled materials?
Would you mind giving us an approximate idea on costs to carry out the refurbishment. I'm nowhere near Southampton but there is someone in our area who could maybe do something similar for me (full leather sports seats).
Are the MG headrests different to the Rover, they look bigger than those on my Mk2?

The headrests are a similar size, but a different shape being flatter at the front bottom edges, also although they click up and down like the Rover ones, they don't tilt forward and back unlike the 75 headrests.

As for cost, it was a little expensive, but you are paying for the craftsmanship and the hours it takes to cut and stitch everything. They supplied a strip of new leather for the seat back side bolster as well as reusing the Alcantara I had provided which they had to soak overnight to get clean, and they charged me £180 + VAT.

The company I used was Wessex Car Trimmers Ltd

Lovely job Paul

make sure you treat the leather parts with some automotive leather product to help stop the cracking

That's a great fix for a common problem, looks amazing. Noticed our boss's BMW the other day, bolster looked like an old worn teddy bear. It's a 59 reg too
