Default Battery/Radio Question

Hello all,

My battery hasn't enjoyed the lack of use during lockdown, and now most likely needs replacing as it isn't holding a charge.

It occurred to me that when I get round to switching to a new one my radio might reset itself and ask for a code (which I'm not sure I have).

My unit I have is as per the below and fitted to a facelift 2004 diesel:

So the questions are:
Will it ask me for a code if I disconnect the battery?
If so, is there a way to disable the feature?

Also, I'll probably be replacing the radio with something with a bit more modern connectivity. Is the radio a straightforward single DIN swap? I also have steering wheel controls for the radio, so will these automatically work with an aftermarket radio?

Thanks!
