Sounds a silly question but do I need to tighten up again after spraying with grease?

Job done and sorted in 2 minutes and things became crystal clear to me as to why I had the problem in the first place. I forgot that a couple of weeks ago I decided to clean and detail the engine and also replaced rusty bolts and screws with nice shiny ones and must have over tightened them, hence the bonnet not closing. I have spray greased everything as suggested.
Guys once again I thank you for help and assistance, this is really a great club and it is nice to know that help is only a click away. Steve |

Yes. Been there and over tightened those bolts when replaced.
I had a classic "male blonde moment". After adjusting the bumper the bonnet would not close properly. Checked everything - adjusted, greased, adjusted bonnet rubbers. Everything lined up fine, but the bonnet would sit proud and not locate in nearside catch properly. After much head scratching, I fell upon the answer when I happened to let go of the bonnet to close it from more of a height than I did before. Doh! just needed a little more gravity to close it than previously. |

By the way, what purpose does the foam serve under the slam panel?

Hmmm, I've just put stainless bolts in and am experiencing exactly this. I tried cleaning and a liberal dosing of WD40 followed by grease. Didn't realise it was simply an over tightening. Thanks everyone!
