I have that 2 ton trolley jack and it is a waste of money as it does not raise very high, but I do keep it as a back up to a bottle jack.
I have a 3 ton trolley jack (similar to the one in the photo) and used it last week to change the front wheel on an old Landy out here in Nairobi (yes they are even sold here) and it did the trick. The 3 ton jack is slightly bigger of course than the 2 ton. The downside is that it makes a lot of noise rattling in the back of the car whilst it is on the move and squeaks like a ....... bat out of ....I tried some AD40 on it with no success. WD is not available. |

You'll be glad you did those axle stands are rubbish, My in law had a pair of those from an rac kit he bought the axle stand collapse for storage where the legs fold in, 1st use on a focus the rivets holding the legs at the bottom snapped resulting in a collapsed axle stand. The jack was left in position so not a disaster. I have a yankee 3 tonne jack cost me about £80 well worth it nice & high. For stands I use breeze blocks and some wood to protect the bodywork. It's one of those items you shouldn't really skrimp on as it can cause damage or injury if it all goes wrong. Iv'e had 1 car come down on me and it's no fun, |
