Default garage build question

thinking of building a garage in the rear garden.thing is there are big trees just to the side of where I'm planning to build, along with the big roots underground.so question is if I cut the roots out to allow for concrete pad, along re these gonna grow back and possibly cracking the concrete.

I would thing it will depend on how thick your concrete pad is, how close the trucks are and the size and species of tree root.
Generally, I wouldn't expect smallish tree roots damage a thick pad by growing up through it, but large tree roots, over a long period might lift the edge of a concrete pad as the roots get bigger in diameter.

A few years ago when I applied for planning permission to put a garage near a 40 foot conifer the planning authority wanted me to 1.5 metres deep concrete raft near the tree.
I would go and see the planning/building authorities for an informal chat before you plan anything. They tend to be helpful for people seeking advice.

Default It's the root.

If you get out the stump and the tap root, it won't grow back. I took out this beast to put in my garage and it was hard work, It's all about the roots, it took me three days to dig around them and saw through them, the stump took me hours of man power to rotate out of the hole into the empty garden? next door.

if you make the tree unstable and it falls you will be responsible and copper will kill it. The advise given to talk to planning is good one, they can be very helpful.
