Default Cambelt crankshaft pully

Hi Guys, anyone know how the cambelt crankshaft pully comes off, i had a problem with alternator lights coming on and no power steering, it turns out that the small key on the pully has sheared off allowing the auxilary drive pully to slip hence the loss of the above. i have a local engineering shop who will drill and insert a hardened pin but i need to get it off it is a 2005 1,8 turbo. i dont want to spend 2 hrs trying to pry it off if you need to undo the casting behind it, iv'e tried to quickly pull it off but it seems solid but that could just be rust etc. also if anyones around bromley and theyv'e got a both pullys or a dead engine with the bits on please give me a shout as the pin idea sounds good but could cause a vibration and excess wear.
thanks
Graham

There is an easy way to remove it.
Proper tools, no Fong Kong specials!!

Remove front wheel.
Fit appropriate socket to nut, with a small extension and a breaker bar solidly reaching ground. Support the small extention with an axle stand or similar. Disconnect spark plugs and crank the starter motor with car in neutral and firmly braked. Make sure the support is on the right side of the nut so to loosen and not fasten. (Check the rotation of the nut, I think it is clockwise, but check)

If Diesel make sure engine does not start.

If your crankshaft pully is slipping due to no keyway, then it must be loose and will put off!

I assume that the cam belt is off! If not, you will have to slacken the tensioner, but make sure you lock all sprockets first and don't move the crank after removing the belt. Normally the cam sprocket can just be pulled off by hand.

While at it, replace the water pump and check the tensioner/idlers. If needed you can clean and regrease the bearings. Lift the little outside rubber seal carefully with a needle, clean with Diesel/petrol and regrease. Replace seal.

I would replace the cam-belt as well unless it is virtually new.

If it's a manual. Stick the car in gear. Have someone hold the footbrake down hard.
And undo pulley bolt.
