It is all a matter of preference Phil, I would have made the sky darker and toned down the brickwork to give it the 'Hammer House of Horrors' look. But you might not like that. Or turned the photo from day to night and see how that comes out.

I ran out of my quota of thanks, so I will thank you here Phil, for posting up the mansion, thank you very much. The photo gave me some interesting thoughts

Good evening Phil, how would you feel about me doing a photo edit of one of the mansion views?

Hello Phil,

I would be absolutely delighted. Please go ahead!
You can find a less edited version on my Flickr page. Failing that, I can email you the raw image if you want?

I have started to get quite into this type of editing...
Still practising. Here's two of the most recent:

I'm not convinced they look particularly good, I've just discovered a new feature of photoshop, that's all!!!

Good morning Phil

I don't mind sharing my secrets with you, as most of us try to help each other

I pushed the limits in Lightroom 4, toning down the exposure in the sky, added a bedroom lamp with the surreal light. To get to this, I raised the exposure and temperature using a brush to touch it in and reduced luminosity to 75%.

In Skylum's Luminar, I layered in the 'blue' for moonlight and added in a fog layer. Finally I distressed the brickwork and then denoised the overall photo.

An alternative to Adobe.......

http://danbaileyphoto.com/blog/full-...c-and-windows/

I changed the perspective of the camera lens slightly, as it can be a problem getting the horizontal and vertical lines to not look out of place. Not perfect, but it was fun trying.

It was all about being creative and imaginative, playing with the light and with the mansion using 2 different softwares to merge everything together

Hi Phil,
That's absolutely amazing!
Good job!!

Can you easily select specific areas with skylum in a similar way to photoshop? I may download it later as you recommend it.

I love the light in the window, that's not something I had even considered before.
The fog is awesome too. It looks so real!

How did you get photo bucket to work!?

Thank you very much Phil for the encouragement

With the bedroom light, I was thinking of putting it there, to make it look haunting from the "House of Hammer"

Luminar works the same as Photoshop in selecting specific areas.

With Skylum Luminar, download the full version and try it out for free. If you like it, you buy the licence, which they email to you with its number and activation. You get free updates and later on this year, they are introducing free cataloguing with libraries in a free update. No monthly subscriptions. Support is on the ball.

The fog is offered in light fog or dark fog, easy to apply via a brush.

I forgot to say, with Photobucket, I use it for the fun stuff and I pay 99 USD p.a for the privilege and it allows me to embed the photos for forum use. The deal is none commercial and is not related to the 399 USD offer. I had over 1000 photos and gifs with PB, so rather than spend hours uploading, I decided to keep the libraries I had collected and pay the non-commercial fee. Like many here I felt incensed how they let us down and held us to ransom, with the theme of 'pay up or ship out'.....but it is, what it is.
