Default ZT CDTi service questions

I'm a little confused - well actually a lot confused. Whilst reading about cures for a smokey engine, I came across arctics HOW TO for MAF and PCV. Now its a great read but Ive been changing the filter at the front behind the rad thinking that was the PCV ( see pic ). so is the one Ive changed just the oil filter? I thought they were one and the same thing

You have just changed the oil filter
That is not the same as the Pcv filter.
I take it you had not changed the oil, when you replaced the oil filter?

Default Filter

Yes, you have changed the oil filter! The pcV filter is situated behind the fuel rail in front of the air filter and you will have to remove engine cover and assorted items to reach it. If you have the original it will have a removable filter which you can clean or replace or, there is a new type available which does not even have a filter in it. This new type should be replaced every 30,000 miles.

The PCV filter is situated the other side of the engine near the driver, underneath were the airfilter sits.

I may have taken the incorrect meaning from your post. Thought you had intended changing your Pcv filter, but changed oil filter instead.
I now read it a bit differently, in that you knew it was the oil filter, but thought it was also the Pcv filter. Sorry if I read it incorrectly.

I used this guide when I serviced my ZT CDTi.
I did the PCV and get no smoke.

At the mot, the tester couldn't even get a reading fom my emissions!!

Check this link out, the service guide shows you how to service the PCV. I just cleaned mine. But may replace it next year.
