Start Button
Hi All,
I have just purchased a start button kit for my Connoisseur 2.5 v6. The instructions say to connect the relay to the 2 wires coming from the ignition barrel to the starter solenoid, but as far as I can see from the Haynes manual one side of the starter motor is connected directly to the battery and the other side connects to the immobiliser control unit. Any advice greatly appreciated, or have I just wasted my money? Many thanks Tom

You will have to put your key into the ignition, turn to position 2 then reach over and press the start button. Now is that as ergonomically designed as rotating the key a further 30 degrees clockwise Brian |

Thanks for your reply Brian, whilst agreeing with what you say, I am one for making my car unique and really would appreciate it if you could advise me how to connect the start switch.
Many thanks Tom

Pins 8 and 5 of the ignition switch brown/grey and white/red 4mm2 cables.
Disconnect these and wire to your start button with appropriate cable. Job done Brian |

I put the same thing in my last 75 and after the novelty wore off I never used it as it got to be a pain in the rear, eventually I removed it.

You can wire the start button in parallel with the ignition switch so you can use both in case the switch loses its appeal.
