roof bars and box

Hi, can anyone recommend roof racks and box for the tourer. There seems to be lots to choose from but I#m unsure of which to buy or not to buy,

cant recommend which as i have the saloon but when looking for thule bars the cheapest i found was here

I was looking out for some roof rails for my ZT-T however I am now wondering about getting and if possible some roof bars to hold our 460 ltr box...I kind of like my ZT-T without the rails and we only set out once a year so what bars should I get?.

I've found Thule 760 bars the right width for my tourer at 108cm. The 761 are wider and seem to stick out to much for my liking and someone could catch there face on them at that width. As far as feet are concerned the choice is yours, most Thule feet have locks on them for piece of mind. If you go on the Thule website they will show you what they have.

The Rover official "aero" bars sometimes come up on Ebay and have soft rubber cups which fit exactly the profile of the rails so do not damage the rails. They are also oval or rounded in section to reduce wind noise. They have a groove along the top (with a removeable rubber strip) into which accessories like bike racks can slot and then everything is locked in place when the end caps are locked. Quite neat.

I recently sold a set on here but unfortunately have since deleted the photos.

Rover actually offered two boxes- both made by Thule (or Karrite) I think. I have the "sport" model which is quite slender (I could get it and two bikes on - just!) and plenty of room inside. The other one was wider and chunkier. I intend to sell mine (like new inside - hardly used) and will post in the For Sale Forum - but not much use to you as I am in the N Essex/Cambridge area. Hope the photos are helpful.

I bought a Thule box. This has handwheels inside that operate 'claws' to attach it to the bars. Therefore a very quick process to fit - as opposed to those with U bolts etc.

Bought mine, a Thule Atlantis 200 on Ebay for £102 2nd hand.

Hi, was talking to the parts guy in halfords the other day who told me that all halfords roof boxes are made by thule. As for roof bars, the cheaper ones in the halfords range are made by paddy hopkirk and the dearer ones again are made by thule. So if you aren't worried about having a thule bagde on your accesories go for the halfords brand...

thule bars are much better than any of the paddy hopkirk range, having had roof bars on every car i have had i have always found the thule fitting more secure and robust, but its down to personal preference, the link i posted in reply #2 is the cheapest place i found for thule bars and free delivery.

thule are better than paddy hopkirk, but as i said paddy hopkirk are the cheaper halfords ones and thule are the dearer ones
