No speed inpulse to HU
I have had a JVC KD-5000 fitted to my 2004 Automatic Tourer but it is not picking up the mph, direction.
Below is an email from the installer: We fitted a CAN BUS adaptor to give us a speed pulse for an aftermarket sat nav unit, the adaptor shows a good data signal pickup and gives us a signal for reverse ( which is wired into the dip rear view mirror ) but it won’t give us a speed pulse? All literature shows there should be a speed pulse signal on the can line, also we cannot find an analogue speed pulse at the instrument panel. The ouput has been checked on a meter to prove it isn’t a fault in the new sat nav unit. Can anyone offer any help? |

There is a speed signal on CAN. That's how the speedo works. That's why there's no speed signal to the instruments on a wire.
The OE satnav uses a signal direct from the ABS. On some cars it's missing, but most have it in a small connector just behind the head unit. I'll be back in a couple of mins with the wire colour etc. Edit: there is a speed pulse to the IPK. WS wire on pin 6 of one of the two connectors. In the little connector it's the SG if the facelifts are the same, but the circuit diagrams are confusing. edit again: 6 way connector. If its present the SG is pin 2.
