slight prang!
Hi guys been to a body repair shop today just up the road from where I live and they quoted £680 to repair and paint the bonnet and paint the new wing and bumper when I get them. They said that the bonnet needs to be panel beaten to repair the damage and the whole of the bonnet needs to be painted.

I can’t see that it would be worth working on a bonnet with any significant damage. I’d just source a good second-hand one. I’m sure it’d be cheaper than any labour cost involved in repairing a damaged one. Speaking as a bodyshop owner/restorer of classic cars.

slight prang!
Hi all finally got my 190 back on the road after my bump. The car is as good as new thanks to some excellent work by Amington Accident & Repair Centre here in Tamworth. Thanks also to Steve(Arctic) for help and advice, Mickeyboy for the bumper and wing and also Devilish for headlights. I also had to get a new headlamp washer jet and nearside indicator. Needless to say my insurance premium has gone up, the car has just passed another Mot to satisfy the insurance company so the insurance could be reinstated. Cost me the best part of £1000 almost in total sometimes makes you wonder if its worth it. Mark.

Glad you have the car back and are happy with it.
Did the insurance company give you anything towards the repair of the car? macafee2 |

Yeah its nice to get it all back together. Only trouble is because I put it through the insurance the car is now classed as a Category N I think, meaning non-structural damage but apparently capable of knocking at least £500 off its potential value. Great.

Its Pearl Black, the bonnet was repairable so I just needed a used wing and bumper off Mickyboy. I originally went through the insurance to sort the other guys car out and I was just going to go for cash in lieu of repairs for mine. But unknown to me at the time they have stopped doing that now. By this time the insurance company had already categorised it so it was too late. You live and learn.
