Got the oil stains that I trampled over our brand new light fawn carpet out with no ill effects just before world war three erupted with a disappointed other half. Did smell of WD40 for a day or two to be honest but then disappeared. |

As yet another suggestion to add to all the above. Chemists sell a solvent remover that is safe for skin for removal of medical adhesives. (Thinking that safe for skin, it should be safe from staining materials too) Sent from my SM-A600FN using Tapatalk

Thanks for all the ideas fellas, much appreciated. I have tried using glue remover, paint stripper, sealant remover and a hot iron, but I'm still left with a residue. I haven't tried WD40 as I thought the same about smell, plus not sure how much the headrest will absorb the oil.

The glue I used was EVO STIK Impact Adhesive, bit too strong me thinks. I may have to live with them I guest, and glue them back on. |

I did have a set of red Monaco’s kicking about from my old zt.
I’ll need to have a look to see if I kept them or threw them out. Bet your wishing you sewed them on now. Doh. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Could steam help loosen the glues hold and make it easier to wipe off the residue? I'm thinking hold under a boiling kettle spout or pan - obviously be careful!
If it was non porous surfaces, orange terpenes / limonene / glue remover (with the former two) would do the job. Never tried it on fabric, so may remove the colour. Again for a non porous surface, I've had good results by using the label glue side down to remove glue residue by pressing down and removing quickly and repeating many times, like you are dabbing it. Back in the day worked well for removing CD case label residue. Have a look on Wikipedia if you don't know what a CD is. Baby oil (mineral oil) may work. Does wonders for your street cred as well. |

To be honest gluing the badges back on is the best bet... 99% you will not get an invisible clean up
Glue them back and sell the headrest. Buy a clean pair to replace or offer a swap for clean one's, someone will love those badged ones...

I agree with klarzy. Lesser of two evils. A 'rubber' type impact adhesive needs a powerful solvent such as acetone or methylethyl ketone, ethyl acetate, etc. to soften and dissolve it. Wiping the surface with solvent and a rag will simply spread it and push it further into the fabric. The best way is to soak/submerge in solvent for a day or two, like in a dry cleaning process. In effect wash it out. Not really practical for DIY.
