Hi Poppy, just a thought. If the wheel bearing is 'rough' so soon after installing, was it installed correctly? I've never heard of a faulty 'new' one before. Can the place you had it done come up with any comment?

The roughness could be just rust/dust build up in the handbrake drum fingers crossed. It's not really easy to fit a rear hub bearing incorrectly on a 75 so could be just premature bearing failure but nothing on your list is rocket science to put right so hopefully you'll be again soon

Hiya Col. But we didn't fit the actual bearing... We fitted the whole hub complete with bearing.... I shall get him to take it off and have a look and check it for me. Poppy

Get him to pop the wheel off & the disc & see if the roughness is still there, if so then it's going to be another bearing sadly

Exactly.... Can't understand why he says it has gone.... It has actually been on for 15 months, probably about 10- 12000 miles.... Will have to wait for my brother to get home from work and have a look for me. Poppy
