Thank you for collating all this information on our cars. It would have been nice to have been there and seen how they were received. No doubt the freebies helped things along. It is interesting the colours that were chosen for the display. No monogram colours? Or pearlescent? Just imagining being there gives me a feeling of pride in these cars of ours. Thanks again for taking the time to put this all together.

Many thanks for putting all this info and the pictures together, Reebs. It's really interesting to read what a huge effort was made at the car's launch and to see all the pre-production saloons lined up. I wonder if they needed any of the spares during the press event - my experience of the build quality suggests they probably didn't.

Indeed, absolutely wonderful, quite an event with so many cars taken there. the logistics must have been incredible.
As Ken Lions said: "Fascinating stuff" … and thanks to Ken who kindly checked out the car I bought – I'm still driving it nearly 10 yrs on. A round trip of 500mls to Cornwall in 2 days and sadly not one other 75 seen whatsoever. Sad.

Just Found This Clip
One of the British journalists to attend the Seville Press Launch was James May on behalf of Top Gear, and you can see his review filmed out there below. He is in one of the 4 Arden Green LHD 2.5 V6 Connoisseurs. His example had Sandstone leather, a Sunroof, Headlamp Power Wash, and High Line Satellite Navigation. The item was original broadcast on BBC2 at 8:30pm on Thursday 18th March 1999.

And this is the review filmed at the Seville event from the team from the Granada Men & Motors Channel.
Watch out for the Primrose Yellow Courtyard Display Car with it's Deep Sea Green Interior at the end too This model is one of the 6 Zircon Silver Ride & Drive cars, and went onto be exported to Italy after the event. It's a 2.0 V6 Manual Club with Ash Grey Cloth interior, has a Sunroof, Cruise Control, Low Line Navigation, and Traction Control. |

James May
Having just seen this, all I can think Is he was an absolute traitor, appalled. The brits, together with the lefty BBC just loved to run excellent products like this down.
