Default The 'Chicken Run'

Just though I would update everyone on my earlier post, which offered free of any charge caravan siting accommodation, in exchange for looking after some chickens whilst the owners took there own trip away in their caravan.....

When I first read the offer on a caravan forum, I thought it had to have a catch to it or the offerer was crazy, but a few inquiries confirmed it was genuine.

We arrived Friday evening and the place is absolutely idealic, we couldn't wish for anything better -apart from a flush toilet. We have free water, electric and wired in internet. We are sited in a massive garden, 150yds long, a mile from civilisation, dead quiet, no near neighbours. It is all fenced up, so we can let the dogs roam free, as at home and the owner has encouraged us to have the dogs pee around the place as much as possibly, so their scent helps keep the foxes away from the chickens Access is via a remote control electric gate.

A mile down the road is a massive tourer site, with the caravans packed in 20 feet apart and the owners paying around £25 per night.

Jean has been trained up to look after the 4x pet chickens, but what wasn't mentioned was keeping some horses watered in the adjacent field, pumped from the well and giving them a few carrots.

The hens are just behind a small mesh fence and I was expecting problems with the two dogs wanting the chase them, but they have just accepted them. In fact Charlie seems to lie outside keeping an eye on them.

Its a converted barn type building, really nice conversion.

How To's and items I offer for free, or just to cover the cost of my expenses...

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.
