A big thanks to Mat from drmgs for supplying me a 2 pin alternator and the guys on the forum for the how to.
Managed to fit the new regulator pack in about an hour.... A fiddly job but did doable.
A decent 1/4inch drive socket set with various extensions and flexible drives, a magnetic pic up to retrieve the dropped bolts and an inspection mirror is a must!

But a long grabber will then be needed to pick up the rag.

Well, unfortunately either the slip rings must be too far gone or there is another fault on the alternator, as the fault came back after 3 days....removed / replaced the brush pack but no good

So spent this evening replacing the alternator on the driveway from underneath following arctics how to

All now seems fine so fingers crossed.....H

I had similar issues with lack of charge buddy
Started with brush pack replacement then battery and alternator
Every time I thought it's fixed and every time after a few days the charge light
Returned to the dashboard
I eventually traced the fault to be 3 broken wires in the loom behind the offside headlight
Regards
Chris

How do I know which valeo alternator I have in my 2004 ZT-T diesel as I can't see any labels, I'm tempted to get the whole regulator unit and want to make sure I get the right one

Original fitment alternators have R3 printed on a label facing upwards.
If it isn't original then it could be difficult identifying it !

I can see R3 on the cover but nothing else due to the label nit facing upwards, does that mean I need to check whether 2 pin or 3 pin?
