Is the light green feed wire Alf used typical for all engines? I've used the cig lighter fuse for my sensors but would like an alternative for another mod. Can anyone verify this wire is on the diesel too?
many thanks in advance. |

I just spliced into it. Much easier than going through engine firewall. So, DRL's come on with ignition, and go off (Instantly) when ignition off. Not sure about 'Diesels' though. If the wires are there I would think OK. trimani (ALF) |

Cheers Alf, I have testers anyway so with your help I may get it first go. As an aside, I really like what French Mike has done, he's soldered a pin through a crocodile clip so that he can test wires by just piercing them without stripping wire off.

For diesel owners, Fuse 4 (15A) in the underbonnet fuse box is live when ignition switched on and turns off about 5 seconds after the ignition is turned off.

I am in the process of fitting drl's to my mk 2 petrol, have done all the wiring except for the ignition feed( I have fitted a relay with the lights).
I was going to get a ignition fed supply from the fuse box in engine bay, but not sure how to get in to the wiring!!?? Anyway after going through all the threads on the subject, have seen two options; purple/brown to windscreen washer pump or a light green wire somewhere in the engine bay fuse box. Does anybody know if the washer pump option is okay i.e for turning off/ dimming etc when indicating and putting headlights on? Many thanks.Steve.
