My wife and I usually see (hear) a police car coming from about half a mile away and go past our allotment ..............on a Sunday. Rest of the week we do not see anything of them. Why do we keep having to pay a higher and higher precept with our council tax for something we do not get. Another racket perpetrated on us all, for what?

I was just thinking this myself the other day when I was out and about on a section of the A69 in Northumberland , lots of speeding cars ( including mine shamefully ) and not a sign of a police car , I guess it's down to the "efficiency savings " ?

Some “boy racer types” do it because they have a false set and drive into the petrol station displaying the false ones in the windscreen, get the pump authorised, fill up then drive off, and 100 yards down the road swap the plates in the windscreen, I was in a petrol station and saw this happening, whilst I was in paying, The woman in the Shell station said it happened before
Typical criminal activity I guess

That's what I always thought it was about. A fashion thing.

In my day it was 'Go Faster' Stripes, furry dice and the biggest CB aerial you could fit......We obviously had much better taste in car modding back then

Helps now the lgv’s can run at 50 (56!) on the single carriageway sections so nobody bothers trying to overtake.

I honestly think given the drop in serious and fatal collisions the aim to dial the whole length should be dropped and the money spent elsewhere.

Are the wagons allowed to run at 50 on single carriageways in Scotland now, as it was still at 40 mph the last time I looked.

They’ve trialled 50 for trucks since the cameras went up but only on the A9, seems to work well too

Same here in Coventry with number plates with a dark film over them. Not just boy racers plenty of high end Land Rovers and Audis have them.
What really peeeees me off is we have a large increase in crime, car theft and house breaking and the Police say they are understaffed. Then I read we now have policemen on busses travelling around solely to catch people on mobile phones whilst driving. (Better view etc). Get off the freeking busses and catch the criminals not easy pickings that make figures look good.
