I note the paragraph that said ‘ car journeys became longer’. So that means that a longer car journey is less polluting? As I said in an above post. ‘ Economics of the madhouse’. When will people realise that it is all about money?

I used to travel 8 miles to work in Birmingham, and obviously the same back home. Statistics, statistics, and lies. All the same mostly.

I was reading about Bath yesterday & their upcoming CAZ, I remember watching this series of short films in the pictures in the 1960's about Bath & them wanting to ban cars from the city back then.

It's worth a watch just for the cars & lorries of that era, I can name every model

It starts around 13 minutes in about Bath on this video.

On another note unprecedented stuff going on with BMW!

BMW will close its main Munich plant this summer for six weeks. That will allow the company to retool and modify more than one-thousand robots to get ready for production of the all-electric BMW i4.

We'll never have a decent public transport system as long as we just pay others to run them for us. Sadly it seems the English don't believe in ourselves enough to make it happen.
Going back to car-free zones: holidaying in Belgium last year, a few of their cities have car-free centres and looked to be thriving. They seem to have more of the small independent shops like we used to have before the out-of-town malls came (although they have those too) and more people pottering about rather than sitting in traffic jams like I do if I drive into the middle of Oxford.
