Default battery low

From time to time, when I start my car up a ''low battery'' sign pops up for 2-5 seconds and then it dissapears. this sign also appeared a few months back in the summer but only once or twice but now it's popping up more often but it dissapears quite fast. 1-3 times a day.

the battery sign is not the red battery sign on the dash where the check engine light is etc but it's on my digital computer where you can also check your range, avg speed etc ...

Anyone else that has had this issue before? If so is it something to worry about? maybe an early sign of a bad battery or alternator? I will check the electrolytes in the battery pack just to be sure.

The warning for the handset battery is a stylised image of a handset with a key below it and the message "KEY BATTERY LOW".
