Lacklustre Starlight Silver

I have to admit that I don't like cleaning cars!
I had a 'full' hand wash and wax done at Tesco today, OK but it still doesn't sparkle (sort of dull grey really).
In my ignorance I thought T-Cut and then use a quality polish - but having read a lot of threads in this forum it seems that I'm 30 years out of date!!!!!
What is the easiest/ best method of restoring at least a good proportion of the original sparkle??? Without too much time and effort!!

I'm sure the extreme polishers will be along with their expensive fancy sealants & coatings but I find give it a good going over with a clay bar then Autoglym super resin polish followed by Autoglym extra gloss protection brings my cars up nice & lasts a reasonable amount of time

You dont need 'flash' stuff, but the autoglym range is a bit old hat now. SRP and EGP just dont last, they have very poor durability, and therefore value. For little or even no more money there are better options.

For real depth try Prima Amigo. Its far far better than SRP. It cures hard, not oily like SRP, it gives a deeper, darker, less dusty finish. On Starlight silver it makes it look like polished stainless steel, really metallic and rich. It also works on other colours to produce a deep durable finish. Its awesome on black.

For a top coat you have 2 options, the glossy look, or the sparkly look. For a glossy finish use a natural wax, there are loads out there Nattys paste wax being great value. For a sparkly look use a sealant. FK1000P is a firm favourite because it lasts ages. A tub is about £17 and will last you years and years. It can be used on side glass, alloys, everything because its heat resistant. It has durability in the 6 month + range from just one coat.

Light colour cars never come up as well as the darker ones..

Silver washes out in the sun and looks almost matt. Not much you can do about it other than enhance the sparkle. Other light colours can be made to look great, they just need to be really clean and contaminant free.

Have any ideas about what would be good and durable for Platinum Gold? Needs to be durable for me. Sadly, don't have a lot of time to polish very frequently. Are the products you recommended above suitable?

Yeah should be good for gold as well. Just take your pick of glossy or sparkly. For durability try Collinite 476S. Its a very durable natural wax, a couple of coats should last up to 6 months, maybe more if you use a decent mild shampoo.
