And then I'll hold you in my dreams

When Jan (my wife) who is from Lancashire first met my parents some 40 years ago I had to translate most of the conversation especially my Dad's words as he spoke in very broad dialect..I can still see the puzzled look on her face when he said "tha yards full a nanny dishwashers and king Harrys"..

Morning all, does anyone know how to remove lime wash from flagstones? The builders left some on our stones and it is a devil to get off. I have tried using a wire brush with soapy water and no luck. Yesterday they plastered the walls and screed the floor.

Lime wash is alkaline so you need something acidic to remove it. Soapy water is usually (weakly) alkaline so, as you've found out, doesn't work .

Can you get hold of some "Brick acid"

https://www.chemicals.co.uk/blog/what-is-brick-acid

Be very, very careful with it - it will burn skin and destroy eyes. Start with it well diluted just in case it reacts with the flagstones themselves. In those famous words- try on an inconspicuous area first.

Hope that helps.

Good Luck.

Cool

After the storm last night it’s been a gorgeous day. Blue sky and warm sunshine. Temperature reached 17.5 degrees. The evenings are getting lighter as well.

Home made cottage pie with shop bought green beans, bloomin’ lovely.
