Default Austin Rover PDI importance.

I love the polaroid glasses! Remimnds me of the time I was asked by Practical Classics if they could use my Marina for a 1970's photo shoot with period dress. (I wasn't in this, it was for a car park shot) and the producer saw my glasses and said, "can I borrow your glasses?!" I felt so trendy.

The facts at the end were quite sad. Shame they weren't given the investment, help and business guidance they needed. I firmly believe that if the Honda partnership had gone on, they would still be here.

I'm probably One of the few people that thinks that Honda weren't all that great for Rover when they were in partnership. Going to watch the youtube clip

I don't know. What makes you say that? I guess in a round about kind of way, I have British Leyland to thank for my job!

No I don't either, they used Rover for technology and to get around the import quota. They had Rover in a bear hug. Rover had to pay Honda royalties on every 200, 400, 600 and 800 made Due to the Honda content in them and as part of the deal no sales to the USA. Rover became a marque under Honda control without being owned by them.

Pretty much as above Phil, no sales to the USA and remember those hideous interior seat fabrics that Rover uesd? That was down to honda making sure they had the better interior trims

Have you ever sat in a Concerto? They are gross! Not a patch on the R8! British Leyland actually built a massive amount of cars for Honda both in Cowley and Longbridge. Rover did sell Honda derived products in the United States, under the brand of Sterling. When the Rover 600/Accord were being developed, many of the Japanese actually prefered the Rover derivatives styling. Honda also used a lot of Rover engines in their products. I thought that Longbridge actually made the best profit it had done in years when building Honda cars?
