Central locking weirdness
Something strange just happened with the central locking on my MG ZT.
The locks wouldn’t open with the keyfob, though the alarm was being set and unset with it. Fortunately I could open the drivers door with the key. However I couldn’t open any of the other doors – with the handles inside the car. I find this really odd.. you would think that it would always be possible to open the doors from the inside? When the handles were pulled the lock button didn’t pop up. Seems dangerous because if it happened after an accident then passengers wouldn’t be able to get out. I thought the interior handles were mechanical and wouldn’t be affected by the electronics. After removing the fuse for the central locking from the fusebox all started working normally again so I guess something was reset - maybe/hopefully it was a random thing and won’t happen again. Just a bit puzzled how/why the other doors couldn’t be opened from the inside though?! .. |

With ‘super locking’, the doors can’t be opened from the inside. That’s to stop ne’erdowells from breaking a window to gain access to your car.
It shouldn’t be an issue after an accident, as although the doors lock when moving, they aren’t super-locked. |
