Default mgztt cdti random cutting out

Hi all, I did do a search but couldn't see anything that matched the issue i'm having, it started a couple of months ago, when the engine randomly cut out when i was driving ( I did attempt to bump start as car was coasting but it wouldn't restart ), I couldn't get the car to restart, gave it around 15mins then called the aa and when he arrived it started first turn of the key no issue. The car has been fine for over 2 months since but it cut out for the second time friday night, again I changed to a lower gear in attempt to bump it but nothing and would not restart, this time it wouldn't restart for the aa and I had to be towed home, I did check and diesel is being supplied to the engine, it cranked over fine but wouldn't fire, the strange thing is I went out to it yesterday morning after it had been left for a few hours and it started first turn of the key and nothing has been done to the car, aa thought it might be crankshaft sensor playing up but I thought they either worked or didn't. The eml came on both times as the engine died but does not stay on or store any codes for the issue.

Has anyone else suffered this??

thanks

I thought cam sensor was only used when car was first fired and then not used so it shouldn't have made the engine cut out should it?

When it cuts out and doesn't restart, does the oil light come on with key to position II?
