Default Reversing Camera

I have just fitted my wired reversing camera to my tourer.Fitted the camera and ran the cable with the yellow connection to the DD unit. The other cable from the camera I connected to earth and reversing light.
Now when I put the tourer onto reverse I do not get a picture on the DD unit. The lights on the reversing camera come on.

So do I have to connect the red wire that is coming from the yellow connector at the back of the DD unit. Or have I not connected it all properly.

Would be nice to get it working.

You need to connect the double din wire marked 'back or reverse' to the 12volt reversing wire of the car loom as well. The reversing wire in the car loom is green/brown.
You can connect this either from the back of the head unit where you should find that wire on a small black plug that isn't connected.
Or you can use the trace red wire on the phono plug and connect that to the reverse power at the boot end and the other end onto the 'back/reverse' wire of the head unit

Hi Coolcat,
Do you mean the red wire that comes out of the yellow connection marked camera in at the back of dd unit is to be connected to the green/brown.
did try connecting this two and still no picture.

Yes that wire, it needs to be connected at both ends.
One end to the green/brown 12 volt revese wire and the other end connected to the double din head unit wire which will be marked either back, reverse or cam

You do not need the red wire to be connected. As long as you have connected the power wire (the black one IIRC) from the camera to the the wires on your reverse light you will be fine.

Just tape the red wire at the HU and at the camera and all should work as supposed

Nope, you don't have to use the red wire both ends as it is spliced into the psu plug loom.
Doesn't always work reliably though!
As previously stated this can be done at the head unit end if you can find the brown/green wire in the loom, it usually found with a small black five pin connector with other wires in it.
Or you can do as previously mentioned if you can't locate that cable.
Sometimes it can be buried right at the bottom of the centre console and is hard to find, hence the use the red trace wire from front to rear as it is already there

Sometimes the return 12 volt from the psu plug doesn't always make a good contact through to the red wire due to the very thin cable.
It is why I always try and override it by using the brown/green in the dash instead !

I connected the red wire to the brown/green wire at the back of the unit and put it in reverse, power going into the yellow cable with the red wire and the red rire on the camera end is connected to the reversing lights . But still no picture on the unit, the lights round the camera come on

You don't connect the red wire into the brown/green in the dash, you connect the wire from the double din which will be marked either back, reverse or cam into the brown/green wire.
Does the double din screen change when you put the car in reverse?
I know you aren't getting a picture but does it go to a black screen for instance rather than staying on the screen you had it on before engaging reverse?

Cannot remember seeing the wire you are talking about attached two photo,s. Will have another look over the week-end.

The screen stays the same when I put the 75 in reverse.

If the screen doesn't change it means the reverse 12volt from the brown/green wire from either the light end or the dashboard end isn't connected to the back/reverse/cam wire on the head unit
