Default Can anyone remember a BTCC race...

I’ve been searching for a clip of a touring car race to show someone at work, problem is, I can’t remember the track, round, or year. I’ve searched google, but can’t find anything, and starting to wonder if it ever happened?!

I think it was possibly brands hatch, very heavy rain, a few cars went off at a corner then I think was red flagged. I’m sure Matt Neal went off, or was knocked off by someone else, and then when interviewed was saying the conditions were too bad and the race never should have been started. It would have been no more than 6 or 7 years ago as that’s how long I’ve been watching the BTCC.

Can anyone else remember something like this, or have I gone completely mad and imagined it all? All I can find on google is a wet qualifying session at brands that was red flagged, but I never watch the qualifying so wouldn’t have seen that.

Cheers Andy,

If it was Brands Hatch around that time I would have probably been there.
I have been to the season openers at Brands in April when we have had snow
I don’t remember the particular incident the OP refers too, but it’s very hard to hear the commentary or after race interviews on the tannoy systems at the circuit.

Sorry I can’t help further with this one.

Thanks anyway, I've still not managed to find anything, but at least 1 of you can recall something along the lines of what I remember.

I've had more of a think about it and I can picture it happening on the Brands Hatch Indy circuit, coming out of McLaren, into Clearways. The bit with Neal, I think he was either knocked off the track by someone else, or went off avoiding someone else, and was 'unhappy' that as he was in the gravel when it was red flagged, he wasn't allowed to restart when the rest of the grid restarted. The search will go on!

Is it worth contacting the press office, or publicity dept. for Neal's team, at the time.

I'm only a casual watcher of the BTCC, but you can probably backtrack who he was driving for. Probably no more than 2 or 3 teams, over the years in question.

Mike

Thats an idea, he's been with team dynamics since I started watching so no need to try different teams.

I've also considered contacting BTCC and ITV to see if there's any way to watch old old seasons, as there were some good races I'd like to watch again.

Thanks, that was suggested elsewhere, i've watched the video and Matt Neal being furious does tie in, but I remember it as not just a wet track but torrential rain falling, huge amounts of surface water, amounting to rivers running across the track, maybe I'm mixing 2 separate events into 1 memory.
