Default Battery Maintainer Advice.

The battery on my ZT-T has gone flat which I think is due to my ZT-T not being driven as often and being stood for long periods of time.

Would somethinh like this https://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/...&storeId=10001 work with my ZT-T and would it be worth buying?

Presumably if I buy one it would just plug into the cigarette lighter.

That's a reasonable capacity charger so should be fine.

Your car will need a lighter socket that is permanently on. Otherwise it will be necessary to wire it in at the fuse box.

Charge the battery up on a normal charger before starting to use a device such as this.

ps have you checked the idle current drain to make sure it is at a reasonable level?

I used one from Maplins when I had my op and couldnt drive. It worked well and I now use it when not running one to keep it topped up

The plug in maintence chargers are a much better option in my opinion if you have power on hand.Lidl regularly sell them, priced at around £14.I have one on each of my 'part time' cars and never have any starting issues.

might be worth checking online on eBay for ones on sale (new) there as it might be cheaper than Halfords. But the basic idea is sound.

I concur with VVC Geeza, if you have a power source handy a maintenance charger like a C-TEK would be money well spent, I keep my two MGs and my friend’s Maestro Tandy campervan battery on charge with them and have done for years with no issues, my MGF original battery lasted for 15 years. In my experience you lose a lot solar energy when a panel is behind glass and in winter the output drops considerably.

I had one from maplins, took it back. I think you'd have to have your dashboard covered in the things to make any difference.
