Default Tourer rear seat back seat belt problem

Help! Went to the tip today with a load and now I can't get the seat back up.

The rear seat belt mech is stuck, I've been wiggling the belt for ages, hoping to release the locking mechanism with no joy. The seat only lifts a small amount, it's very tight.

Any ideas what I should do? I can't see a non-distructive way into the seat back to get to the mech. 🤔

Lift is slowly that small amount at the same time press the button a little and lift up level from the middle see if it works.

Which button is that?

The seat back is being held down by the belt tensioner (that activates in a crash to lock the seatbelt). The belt goes tight as I try to lift the back and won't release.

Thanks I had looked at that but am stuck at the first instruction - I don't think I can lift the seat base enough to get it out. The seat back is holding it down!

This is about all the slack I can get from the seatbelt. (Not much!)

This is about as high as I can lift the seat back

So its the middle seat belt thats latched and locked stopping you from pulling up the rear seat?
Can you not just unbolt the belt itself from the top of the seat (looks like two torx bits)

Tried that, it's just a cover, the belt mech sounds from my tugging to be buried further down.

Ahhh thats upsetting, never been stuck in this position so not sure what to suggest.
The only thing i can think of is too cut the belt so it releases then just replace the belt.
The bit confusing me is how is the seat belt preventing the seat coming back up?
Does it reel out when you lift and lower the seat? i thought it was fixed?

That's a bit drastic at this stage!

It's on a recoil spring, like all the other seatbelts.

But remembering back to my 'O' level maths and Archimedes triangles and squaring of parabola - the belt will need to extend slightly as it pivots up as the connecting the points of tangency are not equidistant and the distance between them extends on the cord (or something like that, it was a long time ago!)

My guess is the mechanism is bolted to the floor somewhere - it isn't going to be secure on the seat is it?
