My ZT-T might not be my daily driver for much longer.
My wife and I are actively looking at buying a third car which will be a daily driver, this will mean my ZT-T will be able to have a well earned rest and only be used on weekends, shows and holidays.
We quote like the idea of buying a convertible car and have settled on looking for a Ford Streetka, we have already had a look at some cars but have not followed up oir interest due to condition of the ones we have seen. Interestingly I have found out the engine has a timing car so no cam belts to worry about. One of the main reasons of looking for a Streetka is that Kirsty used to own one a few years ago and it looks like you get a lot of car for your money if you find a good one. I have also checked the cost of car insurance and with the amendment to the insurance on my ZT-T and insuring the Streetka it would cost less than the insurance on my ZT-T at the moment. Does anyone have any thoughts, tips or personal experience of what to look out for on a Ford Streetka? |

You've got to watch out for rust on them, I believe.

Hi Clyde, never had a StreetKa but, owned a couple of regular Ka over the years. They were wholly reliable with no expense other than general servicing and maintenance.
The only issue we had with them both was rust, particularly around the fuel flap area.....quite a well know fault, I believe. The second one we had was brand new and started to rust after 18 months Accident safety was also lacking on the first gen Ka but, having said that, I do drive Minis so not an issue I was ever worried about

I don’t know much about the Ka’s but have heard they are quite bad for rust. It makes sense as the ones I see on the roads do seem quite rusty, even the not so older models.

Rust. More worrying is rot. A friend drove his recent purchase back from Yorkshire and dropped it off for MOT the following day. They called him at work to tell him it was scrap and unfit for the road. Personal choice rules but I would not like to see you waste your money.
