Default Engine management light

My MG ZT has recently had an ECU problem. The ECU was sent away, repaired & all faults removed. Unfortunately, the engine management light has stayed on & cannot be reset. The question is this:

Will the engine management light come on if you do an EGR bypass? I did this on my first 75 & all was fine but this one is a facelift model. Did MG Rover do a tweek on the facelift models that made the light come on if the bypass was done?

Thanks,

Wayne.

What fault code do you have? On top of fuel filter is a round plug try unplugging it clean connections and refit had a few that I have fixed that way

As above remove the plug from the fuel filter and spray with contact cleaner, push on and off a few times should see the mil light go out.
