Glove box CD changer
Hello all,
How do you remove the glove box CD changer? It has got a full magazine in it but not registering it has one in it. Want to remove it and check it’s all okay. Thank you Josh

Hi Josh
Firstly you will need to remove the fuse cover in the footwell below the glove box, there are two plastic screws at the front and two at the back which are turn and click to remove. The CD changer is fixed with four nuts and washers which you can see if you contort your body to lie in the footwell and look up. Alternately if you open the glove box and push the front down as far as it goes you may be able to feel for the nuts and washers by hand underneath the glovebox...its a little harder to locate each nut but a lot easier on your back!!! Once you've removed the nuts you'll have to jiggle and pull the cd changer up for the bolts to clear. Then you pull the CD changer towards you slowly as there is also a connector on the rear you will need to remove. Cheers Paul Last edited by paulh260260; 1st September 2021 at 07:05.. |

Open the glove box lid and inside the glove box peel back the felt type lining on the bottom on the glovebox (on which the CD changer unit sits) this will expose three recessed screws, remove these. Along the top edge of the glove box, there are four screws, remove these. The glove box, with a bit of tugging can now be slid forward, exposing the glove box interior light connection on the rear of the left hand side, disconnect the plug, slide the glove box further forward and clear of the dash and you can now access the CD changer connector at the rear, disconnect this and lift the glove box complete the the CD changer clear of the car, you can now un-bolt the CD changer from the glove box

Have you tried (carefully) warming the unit with a hairdryer or heat gun. The grease on the slides usually gets gummy with age. A quick heat and sometimes they spring back into life. (Don't melt anything though!) Then you can get them out, strip and lube with fresh grease etc. They are fairly straight forward to do. I'm an electronic technophobe but managed OK.
