I've had my 2001 KV6 R75 tourer for 6 years and I had a diesel saloon for a couple of years before that. Despite its poorer fuel economy, I much prefer the KV6 and the additional load space of the tourer has been a great help to me over the years. And you know, the more I drive it, the more the car grows on me, even after 6 years! It's just so much better than anything else I drive or have driven in recent years. Thanks to local expert help, both professional and amateur, I've not only kept the car going, but brought it back to almost showroom standard (at least from the sills up; sagging headlining notwithstanding). I know its carbon footprint isn't great, but I only use it for longer journeys and the occasional trip across town, so I don't feel guilty about it!

I enjoy the very comfortable ride and, if I’m honest, the amount of people who stop and comment on the car does tend to put a smile on my face in a sort of smug way
Oh and yes it’s British

The first time I saw a 75 it was brand new s registered and old English white. The looks size and styling stuck with me .
I couldn't afford one but I knew if I waited long enough then I would have one . I had almost forgot about the 75 until I ordered a taxi because of the weather and a 75 turned up . Until then I hadn't even sat in one . 2 weeks later I had one that was 2004 Had my current one 8 years . Their is nothing on the road to compare a 75 to. Timeless style ,comfort, economy , low running costs. If I don't drive it for a while I feel iv won the lottery when I get behind the wheel. I have described it in the past as . It's like driving a well made jaguar that doesn't fall to pieces and actually starts when you put the key in the ignition. Never looked back

Annual depreciation can now be measured in pence, not pounds.

I personally believe that a 75 (more so than a zt) can be everything to everyone.
Its a practical family car thats safe and solid. Its a professional car which looks as good in the office car park as well as standing out from the croud on a proud owners driver way. Its a smooth comfortable and capable cross country car that definitely can be pushed harder than many of its contemporary equivalents that came out in the late 90s. Mix it with its colour ranges, interior choices etc plus saloon and tourer body styles, not to mention its engine range (faults regardless), it really was the car that should have been everything to every English man. But NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- poor media and management saw to the end of that.

Having owned three 75s, the latest since January 2006, of course I appreciate the quality, quiet smooth ride, relatively low cost of ownership, the looks, etc but the main reason I love the car is hard to describe. I just love driving it so much. It has now done 260,000 miles but that has included some very long drives like two 360 mile drives between Milton Keynes and Scotland with stops just for toilet breaks. You couldn't do that in a Tesla!

Totally above my expectations
I’m new to 75 ownership (1 month)
The things I love about the car, it starts with the sheer handsomeness of the exterior, a classic saloon design, that manages to look back at the rovers of old, and yet still look fresh. I love the interior, it has been designed, to look and feel special, and it is, the comfortable and comforting ride, is exactly as the looks of the car promise it will be. And, in my opinion, the build quality of the car is excellent, the interior fittings seem well put together, the doors shut with a hefty thump, and you feel cocooned in comfort. Mine is a 05 75 Cdti, my dad actually persuaded me to buy it (he had a few 800’s Sterling’s in the past) I needed a cheap car urgently, didn’t have a lot of money at the time, I was initially unsure, didn’t WANT a Rover particularly, and I really didn’t want a diesel, but I’m so glad my father persuaded me, it has exceeded my expectations in every way 😊 |
