Default What was the Rover car swap plan called ?

Back in the late nineties, Rover offered a 30 day/1000 miles option to swap your new car for another, if you found it didn't suit you for some reason.

The tv advert showed a chap, happily buying an 800, only to find he couldn't shut his garage door when he got home....

Can anyone remember what this plan was called ? (I dealt with a few of these, but I think my grey cells are disappearing... )

(Rover Select was the very early PCP funding plan, like Ford Options and Vauxhall Choices, I think).

I remember in the early days of PCP a lot of the car companies got their fingers burnt.

Early PCP ''s gave you a guaranteed amount trade in at the end (subject only to miles and condition).

In the mid to late eighties people who bought new performance cars (Golf GTI's / Astra GTE's / Peugeot GTI's etc) found them to be almost worthless as they became almost uninsurable as their theft rate was sky high, and yuppys treated them as toys thrashing and trashing them.

Luckily those on the early PCP were finding their guaranteed trade in amount, was in many cases a lot more than the car was then actually worth, meaning they were traded in at a loss to the company supplying the PCP.

The practice of any guaranteed trade in amount then very soon ended.

I blame all that malarky on top gear. Young eejuts thrashing hot hatches. They saw it on top gear and they all wanted to do it, whether they could afford to buy one or to steal one!

Yeah, got the booklet at home! Couldn't believe what I read. First impressions were, "I wonder how many are stolen" and my second thought was, "I could try one out over the weekend, invite a young lady for rumpy, pumpy and return it with a smile (the car as well)".

An 820 Vitesse Sport Fastback was way over any financial plan I could think of...…...sigh...….if only!

Anyone remember the Unipart advert strapline 'Whatever your question the answer is yes!'?
I was at a Unipart counter shortly after it started and the young lady serving had a look which said 'don'teventhinkaboutit' before I even said anything. Another campaign failure.
