Evening good people, I took my newly acquired 75 diesel for a new MoT under the new regulations, the limit according to the data plate at the base of the 'B' post states 1.0, prior to the test I added a quantity of Wynn's injector cleaner, and then a fast run down the local dual carriageway. Once connected to the smoke tester, the result was 0.23, and this from a vehicle showing 120,000 miles. It is true we had also removed the relevant pipes and ensured that everything was cleaned very well, which also included the inlet manifold and MAF. Is this a normal figure in your opinion? Not sure if I have the re map carried out to 160 this Wednesday by young Phil T4 it will achieve the same result next time, still there are 365 days to find out and enjoy between now and then!!

Mine has the 160 map and recently passed with a .6 reading

Yes, I do expect some rise in emissions, hopefully not above the limit of 1.00. The new regulations only relate to what is shown on the nearside 'B' post, I did mention let us suppose the plate is missing, the answer was we revert to the old standards, I may check this out just in case. I am not advocating we all run smokey emitting types of diesel, just a way around certain limits perhaps? Am I right in assuming it would seem that nearly everyone who has had the re map from the 115bhp engine to 160bhp feels it was a very worthwhile change?

When mine was tested a few weeks ago it met the new criteria easily.

Mine is not due until August. Did any of you guys have the EGR disconnected or removed?
Mine is fitted but the pipe has been taken off, leaving it as a not working EGR.

Good morning, yes sorry I have fitted an EGR bypass unit, it looks exactly the same as the original unit with the vacuum pipe fitted onto a blank stub, however, I did paint it black as it is a stainless steel unit and very shiny and needed dumbing down I felt so as not to attract too much attention to it, mind you I did clean other parts such as polishing the AC pipes, draws attention away from other things is the theory?

The new MOT takes in the reversing lights and tyre pressures. If under inflated the car will not get a clear pass. But over inflating tyres can be just as dangerous as the tyre wears quicker and can overheat! It's only a matter of time before the rear wiper (if fitted) and interior lights become part of the test and it won't stop there
